Now the batteries are becoming more and more specialized, because the applications are becoming more and more complex. They are not only used in electric cars - and there it is already a rather complex application - but also in medical technology or in space. And that also means that electrolytes have to be tailored for all these different areas of application. There is no such thing as a universal electrolyte. E-Lyte has applied for patents for some of the electrolytes developed. Among other things, the state of the art in the field of high energy batteries for automotive applications could be improved by more than 100%, in terms of cyclic lifetime (number of charge and discharge cycles) by the E-Lyte electrolyte. Furthermore, it was possible to reduce the internal resistance by 40% compared to commercial electrolytes, resulting in a 40% reduction in the charging time of these batteries.
In addition to the success in the field of research & development of innovative electrolyte solutions, E-Lyte is currently in the process of setting up a highly flexible production plant on a several thousand ton scale for tailor-made high-performance electrolytes, which will make it possible to produce many different electrolyte formulations in one production plant and thus to respond to the rapidly developing battery technologies in the most flexible way possible.
